Michel Chailloux

CdeCuba Art Books 01

Michel Chailloux was born in Holguin in 1983. He graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in 2009.
He explores the use of painting, which in his case is detached from the worn-out rhetoric of “national signs”, to embrace, from the codes of expressionism, a fresh, unusual narrative, full of visual nuances and dichotomies, offering the possibility of entering a world of high dramatic content.
Chailloux cultivates the landscape, but from the decontextualization put into practice through the physical representation of the characters themselves, which are stripped of their traditional appearance by having a stony look; a fact accentuated by the divergence between the activities they perform.
He currently lives in Havana.
