Eulises Niebla

CdeCuba Art Books 16

Eulises Niebla Pérez (Matanzas, 1963). Currently lives and Works in Miami. Studies in Superior Institute of Arts (ISA) and National School of Arts (ENA) in Havana, Cuba.

In the sculptural work of this artist, opposing symbols stand out through the combination of signifiers, that is to say, forms and figures that, while in dialogue with each other, offer the spectator dissimilar expressive discourses, an interest in which he has been able to take advantage of the use of materials, among them heavy metals, marble, direct cement and glass -alone or combined-, to form compositions, often aerodynamic, that have to do with the insular existentiality and the problems related to contemporary universal man.

In this way, the majestic iconographies of Niebla, cultivator par excellence of abstract art and abstractionist figuration, allude to matters related to his environment, such as nature and the city, while offering critical reflections on dissimilar issues that concern current life, without underestimating the importance that this type of creation acquires in the harmonious decoration and ambience of public spaces.
