Julio César Peña Peralta, born in Havana in 1969, emerges as a leading figure in the contemporary Cuban art world. Renowned for his skill in printmaking, Peña found his creative home at the Taller Experimental de La Habana. Since his first traces in 1984, Peña has explored a wide range of techniques and media, including etchings, line-cutting, experimental monotypes, silkscreens and the ingenious reuse of recycled media.
